Client research dossier
Before a kickoff, a research desk deep-dives the prospect's business, market, competitors, and stack with a cited claim for every finding, a verifier adversarially checks every load-bearing claim against its source, and the desk produces a kickoff dossier for you to approve.
What it installs
Agents 2
-
Researcher
A senior research analyst who deep-dives the prospect's business, market, competitors, and stack from primary sources and compiles a cited dossier.
-
Verifier
An adversarial fact-checker who verifies the dossier's load-bearing claims against their sources and rejects anything unsupported or stale.
Teams 1
-
Research Desk
A lead researcher who fans out the four-axis research and compiles the dossier, paired with a verifier who adversarially checks every load-bearing claim against its source before anything reaches approval.
Workflows 1
-
Research, compile, verify, approve
Fan out the four-axis research, compile the cited dossier, adversarially verify the load-bearing claims, and hand off for approval.
Documents 1
-
Dossier format
The customizable section structure of the kickoff dossier — business, market, competitors, stack, angles, confidence & gaps, sources. Edit it to match how your account team wants its prep packaged.
Skills 3
-
company-research
Build a deep company profile from public sources using the executive-insights framework: overview, executive vision in their own quoted words (sourced and dated), product strategy and launches, transformation initiatives, org dynamics, and forward roadmap. Goes deeper than the About page; every claim cited; recent sources prioritized; facts kept distinct from opinion. Adapted from deanpeters/product-manager-skills/company-research.
-
deep-research
Run disciplined multi-source web research: a senior-analyst persona, parallel sub-agent fan-out by axis, 2+-independent-sources for critical claims with explicit confidence tracking, prose-first write-as-you-go, facts labeled distinct from synthesis, source-tier tagging, and a red-team critique pass. Halt if web search is unavailable; never fabricate a citation. Adapted from samber/cc-skills/deep-research.
-
competitor-analysis
Map a client's competitive landscape: scope the market, identify ~5 direct competitors via web research, profile each one's positioning, strengths, weaknesses, and pricing, and surface the differentiation opportunities and unmet needs the engagement can exploit — validated across multiple sources. Adapted from phuryn/pm-skills/competitor-analysis.

Requirements
What this template expects to do its job. Task Machine does not verify these — you decide whether your setup is ready.
- Web search and fetch access for primary-source research — The desk researches the prospect through runtime web search and fetch tools — it searches the web and reads public pages (the client's site, press, reviews, competitors) — and pauses for your approval on the final dossier.
- Browser access for JS-heavy pages (fallback) — When a source is JS-heavy or blocks plain fetches, the desk falls back to browser access to read the rendered public page; it only reads public pages.
- Parallel sub-agents (recommended) — Quality and speed improve markedly when the lead researcher can fan out focused sub-agents at once — one per research axis (business, market, competitors, stack) — rather than researching sequentially.
