Competitive Intelligence Report
Name your company and a research desk discovers your competitors, researches each through a four-lane pattern, and compiles a competitive report — overview, per-competitor deep dives, a side-by-side feature/pricing matrix, and a mentions feed — for you to approve.
What it installs
Agents 2
-
Competitive Intelligence Lead
A competitive-intelligence analyst who discovers competitors, researches each through four lanes, and compiles the report.
-
Matrix Verifier
An adversarial fact-checker who verifies the high-stakes matrix cells and rejects fabricated moats.
Teams 1
-
Competitive Intelligence Desk
A lead analyst who discovers, researches the four lanes, and compiles, paired with a verifier who spot-checks the high-stakes matrix cells before anything ships.
Workflows 1
-
Discover, research, matrix, verify, approve
Profile and discover the competitive set, research each competitor through four lanes, synthesize the matrix, spot-check the high-stakes cells, and hand off for approval.
Documents 1
-
Competitor watchlist
The competitors and seed URLs you already know you want in scope, plus what matters most to compare — a starter the desk merges into its own discovery.
Skills 3
-
competitor-analysis
Discover a competitive set via three-wave search, gate by category fit, research each rival through four lanes (marketing / external signal / benchmarks / strategic diff), and compile an overview + per-competitor deep dives + feature-pricing matrix + mentions feed with traceable cited cells. Adapted from public competitive-analysis methodology.
-
competitor-discovery
Build the true competitive set with three additive search waves — generic alternatives, precise category, and the 'X vs Y' comparison-page graph — then over-discover, filter noise domains, and gate by category fit. Adapted from public competitive-analysis methodology.
-
competitive-matrix
Turn per-competitor research prose into a side-by-side feature/pricing matrix: a shared taxonomy of atomic yes/no features and integrations with the user as column #0, every cell traceable to a cited URL, plus a winning/losing strategic summary. Adapted from public competitive-analysis methodology.

Requirements
What this template expects to do its job. Task Machine does not verify these — you decide whether your setup is ready.
- Web search and fetch access for competitor research — The agent researches competitors through runtime web search and fetch tools — it searches the web and reads public pages — and pauses for your approval on the final report.
- Browser access for JS-heavy pages (fallback) — When a competitor's page is JS-heavy or blocks plain fetches, the agent falls back to browser access to read the rendered page; it only reads public pages.
- Parallel sub-agents (recommended) — Quality and speed improve markedly when the lead researcher can fan out focused sub-agents at once — one per competitor per research lane — rather than researching sequentially.
