I Can't Trust AI Output Enough to Send It
Agent work looks finished but you redo it anyway. Verifier checks, approvals, and step-level history turn plausible output into reviewable evidence.
Founder, Task Machine
Agent output usually looks finished. Whether it is correct, with the numbers checked, the links live, and the tone recognizably yours, is invisible from the output alone. So you re-read everything, fix the two things that were wrong, and conclude the agent saved you nothing.
Often the model did a reasonable job. The trouble is that plausible output and correct output look identical on the surface, and most tools give you nothing but the surface.
Verification has to live inside the work
The fix is to build review into the workflow instead of bolting it onto your evening. Task Machine workflows carry verifier steps that check output before it reaches you: links resolve, tests pass, totals reconcile, and claims carry sources. When a verifier fails, that is a step in the run, handled where it happened, long before a customer could see the mistake.
Every run also keeps a step-level history. When something looks off, you can read exactly what the agent did, which sources it pulled, what it changed, and what the checks said, instead of interrogating a final artifact and guessing.
Approvals turn taste into a record
The third piece builds up over time. Every approval and rejection you make becomes a decision record, so what counts as good enough stops living only in your head. Corrections also become agent memory, and the fix you made in week two does not need repeating in week six.
Repeated clean runs become your trust signal. Once a workflow has passed its checks and your approvals for a month, raising the agent's autonomy there means reading the record instead of taking a leap of faith. Where the record is thin, you keep the final say.
What changes in practice
You stop reviewing everything with equal suspicion. Verified work with a clean history gets a glance, and your attention goes to the calls that are still uncertain. The habit of redoing agent work yourself, the thing that made it feel like a net loss, fades away.
