Task Machine Bot
On this page
Task Machine uses a web crawler, Task Machine Bot, to discover and check the third-party services its customers connect. Site owners can control its access with robots.txt.
User agent and uses
| User agent | Uses |
|---|---|
TaskMachineBot |
Discovers third-party integrations, such as APIs, MCP servers, command-line tools, and webhooks, for the Connector catalog so customers can connect them with accurate setup details. It checks each service at most once a week. Full user-agent string: TaskMachineBot/1.0 (Task Machine Bot; +https://taskmachine.io/bot) |
Task Machine Bot only reads public information: robots.txt, the developer documentation pages listed in the Connector catalog, and the public OAuth metadata of published MCP servers. It never signs in, submits forms, calls tools, or collects personal data.
Control access with robots.txt
Task Machine Bot follows the robots.txt group for the TaskMachineBot user agent, or the * group when you set none for it. To block it from your site, add:
User-agent: TaskMachineBot
Disallow: /
Checking a published MCP server sends one unauthenticated MCP initialize request and reads its OAuth metadata. These are protocol checks rather than crawling, so robots.txt does not cover them. To stop those as well, or for any other question, email [email protected].
